Jack went to school on his big day, so I wanted to make some special cookies for him to take to his friends.
I mean really, how hard can this be.
I have cookie cutters.
I bought some sugar cookie mix, some icing and some sprinkles.
No problem, right?!
Wrong.
Let's first start with a tired, pregnant mommy who needs to get Christmas cards done the same night to get 50% off and free shipping.
Oh, and did I mention none of this got started until almost 9:00 that night because of a family dinner?
So here's how wonderful my husband is- he offered to make the cookies and cut them out while I worked on Christmas cards. Then I would come and decorate them.
He did awesome! What he was even more excited about was that he had extra dough to construct a huge "J" cookie just for our birthday boy!
The first batch comes out of the oven and here's where the disaster begins. (are you noticing that this is where my part begins?)
My pregnant brain bought cake icing to put on the cookies.
Ummm, cake icing doesn't harden like cookie icing.
Oh wait, that blue icing I got is cookie icing!
I never said I was an artist, or a cookie decorator.
They looked like CRAP!

But truthfully, we were having so much fun! Steven and I haven't laughed that hard in so long. It will really be a night that I won't forget!
The sad part was, in all our laughing, we forget to set the oven timer and the "J" cookie got burnt to a crisp! Daddy was so upset.
We laughed at how Jack's teachers would be "judging" our cookies, but oh well, we loved our little man enough to make the darn things!

Until I tried to put them in the container...remember, cake icing doesn't harden, and cookie icing needs to harden overnight. (note to self)
Well, we thought the icing looked horrible before, trying peeling wax paper off the top.

By this time I WAS DONE!
I finally sent Steven to Walmart at midnight. He came home with some chocolate chip cookies and I repacked them in my cute little container.
Off Jack went to school the next day with his birthday snack.
This best part was, when I picked him up that afternoon there was a note attached to the December newsletter-
Attention Parents- Please remember to send only store bought baked goods to school for special snacks.
You've got to be kidding me!
